This idea popped into my head a couple of months ago. I have always wanted to be a part of the Health Care Sector one way or the other. This fits perfectly now that I am on this Tech Journey.
Let’s dive right in!
I have been working in a hospital for more than 5 months now and I have taken into account the strains some patients have faced due to the gap between scheduling doctor's appointments and basic hospital visits. This app stands to be the bridge between the two.
I noticed that patients miss their appointments mostly due to travel, work, forgetfulness or just mere lack of time. And that's understandable. When they eventually come to the hospital after a missed date, due to the nature of the clinic, the next available date is weeks ahead. Leaving me to explain the clinic’s policy to them over and over again. This cycle never ends. It involves some begging, some insisting to be seen immediately (because today is the only free time they have or, they won’t have enough money to cover another transport fare), while others don’t mind and accept another date (which they would still end up missing and come back to reschedule).
Now here’s where the app comes in, let’s call it Mobile Records and the hospital’s record keeping software, Hospital Control. I know, tacky names.😂
Anyways, Mobile Records would sync with the available follow up dates and other vital information from Hospital Control. All patients that are under the clinic would have the app installed on their smartphones. Mobile Records would have their hospital number, their vitals, and a display of available dates for a particular clinic. The patients would be able to reschedule their date, receive notifications for when the scheduled appointment is approaching, track their vitals and be notified when their vitals have exceeded normal, and a lot more. This will all be done on the Mobile Records app from the comfort of their homes, and all interactions on Mobile Records would reflect on Hospital Control.
The aim is to primarily reduce the amount of unnecessary hospital visits, save them time and money, and keep them updated with their regular follow up visits.
When Mobile Records is birthed, it would most likely be an Open Source project.
